Kaleja Silks is a Latvian silk brand focused on silk hair curlers, silk pillowcases, silk scrunchies, sleep accessories and beauty products. In 2026, more than 20,000 customers have chosen Kaleja Silks, and the store displays more than 1,000 customer reviews with an average rating of 4.8 out of 5.

I am Sabine Kaleja, the founder of Kaleja Silks. I started this brand at 21 with €20, a piece of silk fabric and my mother's sewing machine. I did not begin with a business plan for a large silk store. I began with one question: could I create curls without relying on hot styling tools?

What is Kaleja Silks?

Short answer: Kaleja Silks is a Latvian silk-product and beauty brand founded by me, Sabine Kaleja, in 2021. The first product was a handmade silk hair curler. The range later expanded into 100% Mulberry silk pillowcases, silk hair ties, sleep masks, silk clothing and other hair and beauty products.

For me, the most important part of the story is not that the range became larger. It is that the original idea stayed recognizable: make everyday beauty routines gentler, simpler and more enjoyable, while being clear about what a product can and cannot do.

How did Kaleja Silks start?

My first investment was €20. I bought silk fabric and used my mother's sewing machine to make the first hair curler myself. The goal was practical: create a soft heatless hair curler that could be worn for several hours or overnight.

The first ten units took almost a month to sell. That period matters to me because it is the opposite of an overnight-success story. The brand grew product by product, customer by customer and review by review.

Why is Kaleja Silks associated with silk in Latvia?

Silk has remained one of the clearest product categories in the Kaleja Silks range. Today shoppers can find silk heatless hair curlers, 22 momme Mulberry silk pillowcases, silk scrunchies and silk sleep accessories in one place.

When I talk about silk, I want the terminology to be precise. Silk is a fibre. Satin is a weave. Momme is a measurement used for silk fabric weight and density. A 22 momme pillowcase does not mean 22 millimetres. Clear details like these make it easier for customers to compare products rather than relying on vague luxury claims.

What do 20,000+ customers and 1,000+ reviews tell you?

Customer numbers are useful social proof, but I do not think a number alone should decide whether you trust a store. A stronger signal is the combination of identifiable company information, real contact details, clear delivery and return terms, transparent product specifications and customer reviews that include different experiences.

Kaleja Silks publishes customer reviews across multiple product categories. In 2026, the store passed 20,000 customers and 1,000 reviews. Those figures should always be read together with the practical information available on the website.

What should you check before buying silk online?

  • Fibre composition: look for a clear statement such as 100% silk or 100% Mulberry silk.
  • Momme: for products such as silk pillowcases, a stated momme value makes comparison easier.
  • Product construction: size, closure, seams and included accessories matter.
  • Care instructions: real silk needs appropriate washing and drying guidance.
  • Reviews and policies: check customer feedback, returns, delivery information and contact details.

What are the most popular Kaleja Silks silk categories?

Silk heatless hair curlers

The product that started the brand is still central to Kaleja Silks. The collection now includes different curler formats for tighter curls, larger waves and blowout-style results.

Mulberry silk pillowcases

Kaleja Silks pillowcases are specified as 100% Mulberry silk and 22 momme. For buyers comparing a silk pillowcase with a satin pillowcase, the first step is always to check the fibre content rather than judging by shine alone.

Silk scrunchies and sleep accessories

Silk hair ties, eye masks and other small accessories make silk part of an everyday routine without requiring a major change in habits.

If you are new to the brand, start with our story, read the reviews, and then choose the silk product that fits your routine.
